Discover Nairobi’s vibrant combination of modern life, African culture, and nature on this half-day tour. Explore with your driver-guide the sights that most interest you. Drive through the tranquil suburbs of Langata and Karen bordering the National Park, and perhaps see the orphaned elephants at David Sheldrick or hand-feed the endangered Rothschild giraffe at the AFEW Giraffe Centre. Depending on time, wander around the original home of Karen Blixen (author of Out of Africa) and end with a lovely lunch (own account).
Experience an unforgettable hot air balloon safari. After an early start, transfer from your camp to the ballooning start point and join a group of up to 8 people. Listen to the short briefing from the pilot and then climb into the basket to ascend into the skies. Spend around an hour in the air. Watch the sun rise over the horizon, spot wildlife as they come to life for the day, and photograph the incredible scenery. Upon landing, enjoy a champagne breakfast before returning to your camp.
Visit Ol Pejeta Conservancy’s bloodhound dog kennels and discover how these remarkable dogs are trained to become anti-poaching patrollers. After the tour, take part in an exciting game of human-canine hide and seek, where you’ll try to outsmart the dogs by finding a good hiding spot within the Morani Information Centre. It’s a fun and interactive way to get some exercise while helping with the dogs' training. The activity is available in the morning only at 8:30 am, with a maximum group size of six and a minimum age of 12. Closed-toe shoes are recommended. If the dogs are deployed, a refund or rescheduling will be offered.
Meet the northern white rhino, one of the world’s most critically endangered species, with only two remaining in existence. Both are safely housed at Ol Pejeta Conservancy within a 2.8 km² enclosure, guarded by 24-hour armed security. During your visit, you’ll have the rare chance to observe these magnificent creatures up close while learning from the dedicated keepers about ongoing conservation efforts to protect them. You may also spot Grévy’s zebra and Jackson’s hartebeest in this private and intimate setting. Visits are available in the morning (8:30 or 11 am) and afternoon (3 or 4:30 pm), with a maximum of six people per tour.
Experience a stunning 45-minute sunset flight over the Chyulu Hills and the plains surrounding ol Donyo Lodge aboard a Bell 505 helicopter. Enjoy 180-degree panoramic views of the breathtaking landscape, spotting diverse wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, and wildebeest roaming below. As the sun sets, the scenery transforms into vibrant shades of orange and red, creating perfect photo opportunities. Throughout the journey, expert guides provide fascinating insights into the region’s ecosystems and ongoing conservation efforts. The adventure concludes with a landing at a scenic location, where you’ll toast the spectacular sunset, making this an unforgettable experience.
Interact with orphaned elephants at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. The organization is a world leader in the rescue and rewilding of orphaned African elephants and rhinos, working across Kenya to secure a future for all wildlife. This private viewing takes place at 3.00 pm, a scheduled feed time for the orphaned elephants. Experience a personalized encounter with both the orphans’ and their Keepers. An employee from the Trust will be present to explain about the Project and the individual rescue stories of each elephant orphan in the Nursery.
Enjoy an intimate picnic on the crest of the Out of Africa kopje. By a quirk of fate, Angama Mara was built on the same site that many of the most memorable scenes from Out of Africa were filmed. Travel back in time to the Golden Age of safaris and celebrate this treasured piece of literary history. Discover an old-world private picnic scene: checked blankets, comfy cushions, canvas safari chairs, a wicker picnic basket, sparkling wine on ice, coffee in a Stanley flask, elegant picnic food, and of course, that view.
Kenya is a year-round safari and beach destination, with distinct green and dry seasons. For front-row seats to the Great Migration, visit the Maasai Mara between August and October, when vast herds rumble across the plains. From December to March, minimal rainfall and mild temperatures create ideal conditions for game viewing—often with fewer crowds and more accessible pricing.
